Previously he was a Senior Managing Director at Macquarie where he built, from scratch, one of the largest insurance buying programmes in the world. This business managed over US$1.1bn of annual premium spend and worked with 850+ clients, two thirds of which were owned by 45 third party private equity and infrastructure funds. It delivered over US$265m of premium savings to its clients, representing nearly US$3bn of value creation for the LPs/investors. Mark was directly responsible for all aspects of the business - he hired the team, established operations in the UK, Europe, North America and AsiaPac, acquired a US broker and formed a reinsurance captive in Bermuda.
Prior to Macquarie, Mark held senior management positions at several other investment banks including WestLB, ING Barings, JP Morgan and SG Warburg. He qualified as a chartered accountant with Coopers and Lybrand and has a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Adelaide.
